CSIR-NIScPR organised a workshop and panel discussion in collaboration with National Book Trust (NBT), New Delhi in the 28th New Delhi World Book Fair on 11th January, 2020

International Day of Yoga 2019
International Day of Yoga Celebration at CSIR-NIScPR

On the occasion of the 5th International day of Yoga on 21 June 2019, CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi, organised a talk by Dr Raakhi Mehra, Ayurveda Yoga Consultant, Technical Course Coordinator, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and Assistant Director AYUSH, and a Yoga demonstration by Shri Yogendra Maurya, Yoga performer. Dr Mehra has an experience of over 20 years in Kshar sutra surgeries. She has also authored 8 books and 578 popular research papers in national and international journals, magazines and national newspapers.

In his opening remarks, Dr Manoj Kumar Patairiya, Director, CSIR-NIScPR, lauded the efforts of our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for bringing the much-awaited recognition for Yoga on the world forum and also actively promoting Yoga for the benefit of everyone. Dr Patairiya emphasised on the importance of both "Yoga" i.e. holistic rejuvenation of body and mind, and "Viyoga" i.e. dissociation from materialistic lifestyle. He stressed on the fact that Yoga is not only performing physical exercise but also sacrificing worldly pleasure and coming out of comfort zone which is essential for inner well-being and happiness.

CSIR-NIScPR Celebrates National Technology Day 2019

CSIR-NIScPR organised lectures on National Technology Day 2019 on 13 May 2019 at Vigyan Sanchar Bhavan. Dr Ariz Ahammed, Managing Director, National Horticulture Board and Dr Unnat Pandit, Director (AIM Program), NITI Aayog, delivered the lectures. Prof. (Dr) Manoj Kumar Patairiya, Director, CSIR-NIScPR chaired the event.

Earth Day 2019
CSIR-NIScPR Celebrates Earth Day

Earth Day, the global movement that embraces nature and its values, is celebrated by more than a billion people on April 22 every year. CSIR-NIScPR joined the celebrations by organising a panel discussion on "Weather Forecast to Weather Smart" on 22 April 2019 at Vigyan Suchna Bhavan, S.V. Marg, New Delhi.

Noted experts, Dr S.D. Attri, DGM, Agromet Advisory Service Division, India Meteorological Department, New Delhi and Dr S.K. Varshney, Adviser & Head, International Bilateral Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, joined the celebration.

Chairing the panel discussion, Dr Manoj Kumar Patairiya, Director, CSIR-NIScPR, stated that there is a need to empower farmers to help them understand the weather forecasts. He added that science communication can help farmers and even the general public to become weather smart.

On the occasion of the National Science Day, a panel discussion on a Indian Scholarly Journals: Contemporary Issues and Aspects was organized by NIScPR on 27 February 2019. Prof. Krishan Lal, former President, Indian National Science Academy (INSA) chaired the discussion. Prof. Amitabh Joshi, Editor of Publications, Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), Bengaluru; Dr Archana Thakur, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC); Dr Praveen Arora, Scientist G, Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Mr Madhavendra Narayan of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) were the panelists.

Marking the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the Periodic Table, the UN General Assembly and UNESCO have proclaimed 2019 as the "International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements". CSIR-NIScPR joined the celebrations with the screening of a science film, "The Mystery of Matter: Unruly Elements" on 25 January 2019 at the Vigyan Suchna Bhavan, S.V. Marg, New Delhi.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus, scientists, staff and AcSIR students of CSIR-NIScPR and National Science Library (NSL) organised a Readathon of the novel on 9 November 2018 at the NIScPR Campus at S V Marg, New Delhi.
