International Collaboration

CSIR-NISCAIR has been functioning in the areas of science communication and information sciences and has over the years developed several international linkages. During the year 2018-2019, several activities were organised in collaboration with international organisations. The institute also received foreign delegations that visited CSIR-NISCAIR to gather information about the Institute’s activities.

International Workshop on "Science Breakthroughs: Paid News, Fake News and Ethics"

CSIR-NISCAIR organised an international Workshop on "Science Breakthroughs: Paid News, Fake News and Ethics" during 20-22 February 2019 in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).

The tentacles of the all pervasive paid and fake news are spreading to science breakthroughs as well. This undesirable spread has adverse repercussions on all stakeholders including researchers, scientists, science communicators, students and the lay public. The workshop was organised to share, discuss, brainstorm and find solutions.

Visit of Delegation from Royal University of Bhutan

A five-member delegation from the Royal University of Bhutan led by Prof. Yangka, Director General, Royal University of Bhutan visited CSIR-NISCAIR on 11 July 2018 and discussed the possible areas of mutual cooperation in science communication.

National Centre of the ISSN International Centre

CSIR-NISCAIR is the National Centre of the ISSN International Centre. The Indian ISSN National Centre at the CSIR-NISCAIR National Science Library is one of the networks of over 89 national centres worldwide. The primary functions of the ISSN National Centre are:

  • Assigning ISSN to serials published in India
  • Registering them in the international database in Paris
  • Promoting the use of ISSN in India and acting as the link between publishers and the ISSN Network
  • Promoting ISSN in India and being responsible for contact to various users of ISSN

Science Diplomacy — India's Global Digest of Multidisciplinary Science

Science Diplomacy is among the first endeavours to bring highlights of Indian scientific achievements in foreign languages. It helps in identifying priority areas for collaboration and involvement of stakeholders in policy-making and strategic engagements, including scientists, academicians, senior diplomats, science counsellors and experts.
